1y+11-2y+6
I'm not asking for the answer, just don't know what to do first.
combine the y, and then the numbers...
-y+17=?
Thanks but I'm still confused as to what the value for Y is and how to find it.
My mistake i did not write the equation correctly. It should read
1y+11=-2y+6
Most likely you do not have to find the value for Y...n you just have to simplify it
To simplify the expression 1y+11-2y+6, you need to combine like terms.
Step 1: Start by grouping the terms that have the same variable together. In this expression, you have "1y" and "-2y" as the terms with 'y'.
Step 2: Combine the like terms. In this case, you have 1y and -2y. When you have 'y' in one term and subtract 'y' in another term, you can subtract the coefficients (numbers in front of 'y'). So, 1y - 2y is equal to -(1y-2y) which is -1y.
Step 3: Now, let's look at the remaining terms. You have 11 and 6. These terms are constants, meaning they do not have a variable.
Step 4: Combine the constant terms. In this case, you have 11 and 6. When you have two numbers, you can simply add them together. So, 11+6 is equal to 17.
Putting it all together, the simplified expression is -1y + 17.
