An added bonus of these Europeans conducting trading in Canada was to map the country? Thompson established trading posts and explored the prairies. He also mapped the length of the Columbia River and increased European knowledge of the west. Cook contributed to the history of Bc by circumnavigating the globe. Vancouver strengthened the british cliam towards the Pacific Coast.
