Heather is an 8- year-old child who obtains an IQ score of 65 on an IQ test. Her standard scores on measures of academic performance reveal that she's scoring at grade level in all areas. She's also very outgoing and social. According to IDEA, Heather would qualify for
services under the category of Other Health Impairment (OHI) due to her low IQ score. OHI includes conditions that affect a child's ability to learn, such as ADHD, but also can include cognitive impairments like Heather's. Heather may need additional support and accommodations to reach her full academic potential despite performing at grade level currently.
