Difference between COD BOD ThOD

- COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) is a measure of the amount of oxygen required by chemicals in water to be broken down by bacteria. It is often used as an indicator of the amount of organic pollutants present in water.

- BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) is a measure of the amount of dissolved oxygen consumed by microorganisms to break down organic matter present in water. It is used to assess the level of organic pollution in water.

- ThOD (Theoretical Oxygen Demand) is a calculation of the amount of oxygen that would be required to completely oxidize all the organic and inorganic pollutants present in water. It is a theoretical value and is used to estimate the oxygen demand in water treatment processes.
