Who were the Moors, and how did they affect Spain during their rule?

(For a 6th grader)

The Moors were a group of Muslim people from North Africa who invaded and ruled over Spain from the 8th to the 15th centuries. They brought advanced technology, culture, and knowledge to Spain, including architecture, math, science, and medicine. The Moors had a big impact on Spanish language, music, and art. They also created a society that was more tolerant of different religions and cultures, which allowed Jews and Christians to live peacefully alongside Muslims. However, the Moors' rule eventually led to conflicts with the Christian kingdoms of northern Spain, resulting in the Reconquista, a centuries-long effort to drive the Moors out of the Iberian Peninsula.
