Many times, laws are results of compromises between political parties and interest groups. Though

only one party can be in power at a time, members of that party often listen to the views of others.
The goal of a government is to represent all people.
● A good example of this party cooperation is Texas Republican Representative Angie Chen
Button’s $1 billion bill for childcare during the COVID-19 pandemic. Representative Button used
ideas from interest groups that wanted free _____________________for working parents. She met with
lobbyists who held different views. But because they wanted the same outcome, they worked
together. Button’s willingness to adopt different views of those interest groups shows compromise.
Because of that, the law was passed.

thank you

for giving me the opportunity to share more about how laws are often a result of compromise and cooperation between different parties and interest groups. I hope this example helps illustrate the importance of working together to achieve a common goal for the benefit of all people.
