You see an accident, and talk to the police about it. The policeman asks, "How much faster was the yellow car going?" At the time you didn't think the yellow car was going faster, but when asked again a week later, you "remember" that the yellow car was going faster. This is called the effect.

This is called the misinformation effect. It refers to the phenomenon where new information can distort our memory of past events, leading us to remember things incorrectly or differently than how they actually occurred due to misinformation or leading questions.
