Over the past ten years, video gaming and technology have become popular and have really changed how our brains work. They have a big influence on kids and adults, shaping how we see and interact with the world. Technology is everywhere in our lives now, and while it has lots of good things, it can also be tricky to deal with. As more and more people use technology, it's important to think about how it affects us and the world around us.

Numerous studies have demonstrated that playing video games can boost brain development it has been proven that they help with problem solving skills, decision making, and multitasking. Video games are also beneficial in everyday life such as hand-eye coordination, reaction time, and focusing on an academic setting. As I was researching, I came across allot of contradicting research, such as people saying its beneficial for vison while others state its bad for vison or saying it makes you physically active while the other is saying it makes you gain weight. According to a review of research on the positive effects of video games, it states many ways of the benefits such as Improved Cognitive Abilities, Enhanced Motor Skills, Therapy and Rehabilitation, Entertainment, and increased Socialization. I believe video gaming can have a good side to it, but I also feel it has more negative effects than positive.
Violent video games are another problem. They are teaching kids violent behaviors and making them think it’s okay. It also affects brain development. According to Sujan Vijayraj Shadrak. "Just 10–20 minutes of violent gaming can increase activity in the brain regions associated with arousal, anxiety, and emotional reaction, while simultaneously reducing activity in the frontal lobes associated with emotion regulation and executive control." Violent video games teach kids criminal skills and even maybe makes them want to be like the game. which are Another reason kids get in criminal activities, For example, Call of duty, a shooting game. Kids who play this are now under the influence of killing, shooting, breaking into places, and even playing with guns. Which is sad because the number of crimes that happen involved with kids are rising every year. Exposure to violent video games increases children’s dangerous behavior around real firearms. Another example is fighting games, kids who play these games maybe are now going to want to fight or want to learn to fight. According to Healthy Kids Zone, “Studies of children exposed to violence have shown that they can become immune or numb to violence, imitate the violence they see and show more aggressive behavior with greater exposure to violence."
Playing video games can be super fun, but some games can be not so great for us. Like, when we play violent games, it can make us feel more anxious and even make us think it's okay to do bad things. It's not good for our brains to be thinking about fighting and shooting all the time. Not only does it effect how we think it also plays a part in out mental and physical health according to Pankaj Kumar Singh, "Excessive screen time can lead to addiction, loss of focus, and mental health issues such as stress and anxiety." When children spend excessive amounts of time gaming, they are not engaging in activities that promote cognitive growth and development. Additionally, the fast-paced and often violent nature of many video games can lead children to real-world violence and negatively impact their emotional development. It's important to find a balance and make sure we're not letting video games take over our whole life. Let's be smart about the games we play and remember to take breaks and have fun in the real world too.
