The circulatory system has a specific job, but it does not function by itself. It works in sync with the other body systems to keep the body in a stable, balanced state. This balance is called homeostasis. For example, when you go for a jog, your cells need more energy, which requires more oxygen. The brain tells the heart and lungs to work harder to give the cells what they need. As you exercise, liquid waste travels from the kidneys to the skin so you start sweating. Without any effort from you, the circulatory, nervous, respiratory, excretory and other body systems automatically work together to keep the body in balance.
