the Empirical Rule.

What do you notice? What do you wonder?

I notice that the Empirical Rule states that for a normal distribution, approximately 68% of the data falls within one standard deviation of the mean, 95% of the data falls within two standard deviations, and 99.7% of the data falls within three standard deviations.

I wonder how closely the actual data in a given dataset adheres to the percentages outlined in the Empirical Rule. I also wonder if the Empirical Rule can be applied to non-normal distributions with some level of accuracy.
