Insert subtotals, using the Sum function, for each category in the State field, sorted A to Z in range A4:D19. The subtotals should add the values in the Workshops Attended field for each State category, and then include a grand total how to do this in excel

To insert subtotals for each category in the State field in Excel, follow these steps:

1. Ensure that your data is organized with the State field in column A and the Workshops Attended field in column B.
2. Select the cell where you want the subtotals to start (e.g., cell A4).
3. Go to the "Data" tab on the Excel ribbon.
4. Click on the "Subtotal" button in the "Outline" group.
5. In the "Subtotal" dialog box, select the following options:
- At each change in: State
- Use function: Sum
- Add subtotal to: Workshops Attended
- Click "OK"
6. Excel will then insert subtotals for each category in the State field in the specified range (A4:D19).
7. To add a grand total at the bottom, manually enter the SUM formula in the cell below the subtotals for the Workshops Attended field.

This process will automatically group the data by State and calculate subtotals for each category in the Workshops Attended field, as well as a grand total for all categories.
