How was Portuguses trade in India different from that in America?

Portuguese trade in India was primarily focused on establishing a strong maritime trade empire by controlling key ports and establishing trade routes between Europe and Asia. They established trading posts and colonies along the coast of India, such as Goa, Bombay, and Calicut, and monopolized the trade of valuable goods such as spices, textiles, and precious stones.

On the other hand, Portuguese trade in America was primarily focused on exploiting the land and resources of the New World for profit. They established colonies in Brazil and parts of the Caribbean, where they extracted resources such as gold, silver, sugar, and timber. The Portuguese were more focused on extractive industries and plantation agriculture in America, whereas their trade in India was more focused on establishing a trading empire and controlling trade routes.
