What system controls when the endocrine system releases hormones?

The endocrine system is controlled by the hypothalamus in the brain. The hypothalamus secretes hormones that stimulate or inhibit the release of hormones from the pituitary gland, which then regulates the release of hormones from the other endocrine glands in the body. Additionally, feedback mechanisms involving hormone levels in the bloodstream also play a role in regulating hormone release from the endocrine glands.
