Part Two:

Daisy Buchanan can be seen as the tragic hero in The Great Gatsby. Despite her beauty and charm, she is ultimately trapped in a loveless marriage with Tom Buchanan. This is evident in Chapter 1 when she admits to Nick that she is unhappy: "I'm pretty cynical about everything." Throughout the novel, Daisy is torn between her desire for material wealth and her love for Gatsby, which ultimately leads to tragic consequences.
