The Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo ended the Mexican-American War and established the Rio Grande as the southern border of Texas. It also ceded a vast amount of territory to the United States, including present-day California, Nevada, and Utah, as well as parts of Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Wyoming.
