Area of Composite Figures Practice
1. Find the area of the following composite figure:

The figure can be divided into two rectangles and a triangle.
Area of rectangle 1 = base x height = 8 ft x 10 ft = 80 sq ft
Area of rectangle 2 = base x height = 5 ft x 10 ft = 50 sq ft

Total area = 80 sq ft + 50 sq ft + 15 sq ft = 145 sq ft
Therefore, the area of the composite figure is 145 sq ft.
2. Find the area of the following composite figure:

The figure can be divided into two right triangles.
Area of triangle 1 = 1/2 x base x height = 10 in x 6 in / 2 = 30 sq in

Total area = 30 sq in + 30 sq in = 60 sq in
Therefore, the area of the composite figure is 60 sq in.
