European Explorer Journal

What was your reaction and interaction with the native people?

My reaction and interaction with the native people varied depending on the specific tribe or group we encountered during our exploration of the New World. In some cases, the native people were friendly and welcoming, offering us food and shelter and showing curiosity about our technology and customs. In these instances, I tried to communicate as best as I could with gestures and basic words to show our appreciation for their hospitality.

However, there were also encounters with native people who were more wary and distrustful of us, likely due to previous negative experiences with European explorers. In these situations, I tried to approach them with caution and respect, attempting to show that we meant no harm and were only interested in peaceful interaction and trade.

Overall, my interactions with the native people left me with a sense of wonder and admiration for their culture and way of life. I tried to approach them with an open mind and a willingness to learn from their knowledge and traditions, while also being mindful of the impact our presence could have on their societies.
