The change from day to night on Earth is caused by the rotation of the Earth on its axis. As the Earth rotates, different parts of the planet are either facing towards the Sun (daytime) or away from the Sun (nighttime). This rotation takes approximately 24 hours to complete, which is why we experience the cycle of day and night.
