What do you look at to compare numbers in standard form?

When comparing numbers in standard form (scientific notation), you should look at the coefficient (the number before the decimal point) and the exponent (the power of 10).

To compare numbers in standard form:
1. Compare the coefficients. The number with the larger coefficient is greater.
2. If the coefficients are equal, compare the exponents. The number with the larger exponent (positive or negative) is greater.
3. If the exponents are also equal, then the numbers are equal.
