Mao's Great Leap Forward could have been more successful if there had been more thorough planning and consideration of the potential consequences of mass collectivization and rapid industrialization. Additionally, greater flexibility in response to feedback and the ability to adjust policies based on outcomes could have prevented some of the disastrous consequences of the campaign.
