This caused conflicts and battles between the two groups. Eventually, the settlers forced many Native Americans off their land and onto reservations, where they were treated poorly. Some tribes fought back against the settlers, but in the end, they were mostly defeated. This led to the Native Americans losing much of their land and way of life. It was a sad and unfair chapter in American history.
