A)

Describe two energy transformations that are happening in the situation described below:

A plant grows as it sits in the sun. Later, a deer comes along and eats the piant, then spends the day running around the woods, ending up on top of a mountain.

1) The energy transformation from sunlight to chemical energy occurs as the plant undergoes photosynthesis. The plant converts the sunlight into chemical energy stored in its tissues in the form of sugars and other nutrients.

2) When the deer eats the plant, the stored chemical energy is released as the deer metabolizes the plant material. The chemical energy is then transformed into kinetic energy as the deer runs around the woods and climbs up the mountain. Additionally, some of the energy is transformed into thermal energy as the deer's body generates heat during its activities.
