Pretrial %C2%A0%C2%A0- There is enough evidence that someone has committed a crime serious enough to warrant being taken into custody (police detention).
In this stage, the prosecutor presents the evidence against the defendant in court, and the defense attorney may argue for their client's release on bail or other conditions. The judge will then determine whether there is enough evidence to proceed to a trial. If the judge finds that there is probable cause that the defendant committed the crime, they will be held in custody until their trial. If not, they may be released on bail or other conditions.
