- Andrew Carnegie is best known for his enormous contributions to the steel industry. He revolutionized steel production by implementing the Bessemer process, which allowed for steel to be produced more quickly and inexpensively.
- Carnegie's company, Carnegie Steel Corporation, became one of the largest and most profitable steel companies in the world. At its peak, it produced more steel than all of Great Britain.
- Carnegie is also known for his philanthropy. He believed in giving back to society and donated a large portion of his wealth to various causes, including education, libraries, and the arts. His most famous philanthropic endeavor was the establishment of over 2,500 public libraries around the world.
- Carnegie's philanthropy earned him numerous awards and recognitions during his lifetime, including knighthood from Queen Victoria and the French Legion of Honor. He is also remembered as one of the greatest philanthropists in history.
