Cora could not wait to get home. She secretly knew that her sister Kiley had planned a special surprise for her. She sat at her desk working, periodically checking the minute hand of the clock on the opposite wall for that moment when she could start heading home.
Meanwhile, Kiley bounced around the house, excited for her sister to get home from work. She had placed streamers all over the living room to celebrate her sister’s birthday and had even baked a cake herself.
Jeffrey watched his daughter Kiley with amusement. He was glad that she always retained her childlike enthusiasm and admired how she would always do special things for others. He thought to himself how much he would miss her when she went off to college in the fall.
