- Labor union: A labor union is an organization of workers who come together to negotiate with employers for better wages, benefits, and working conditions. Collective bargaining is the process by which representatives of the labor union and the employer negotiate a contract that outlines these terms.
- Disenfranchise: Disenfranchise refers to when individuals are stripped of their rights, particularly their right to vote. Gerrymandering is a practice in which political boundaries are drawn in a way that gives one political party an unfair advantage, effectively disenfranchising voters who may not align with that party.
- Reformer: A reformer is someone who works to bring about change in a particular area, often with the goal of improving society. Illiteracy refers to the inability to read or write, and reformers may work to address this issue by advocating for education policies and programs that promote literacy.
