Students at NMS have learned of a new construction project aimed at reducing animal and car collisions on highway 70 near the school. The goal of the project is to reduce animal and car collisions at least 75% each year. Community members want to limit the cost of the project so that, if successful, similar projects can be implemented throughout the county.

Students learn that the two solutions suggested by the county include a wildlife bridge and a wildlife fence. They decide to research these solutions and organize their information in a table (left). The students have different ideas about which solution would best fit the needs of the community.

Select the solution, supported by the evidence, that best addresses the needs of the community.

A. Wildlife bridge; because the bridge is more visually appealing, animals will be more likely to use it.

B. Wildlife bridge; because is reduces the yearly animal collisions by a much greater amount than the fence.

C. Wildlife fence; because it is more cost effective and could be expanded to other places if successful.

D. Wildlife fence; because it is see through so that drivers can see the animals better when they jump into the road.

B. Wildlife bridge; because it reduces the yearly animal collisions by a much greater amount than the fence.
