SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS: For this activity you need to simulate a role play in the workplace. Choose a colleague or any person (this can be from your workplace or outside) that has a different culture from your own.

Scenario: You work for an international company and get international guests regularly. You are the business administrator, and your tasks involve administering tasks for these visitors. You are very polite, and you can deal with annoyed guests. The guest in question wants to book a holiday in South Africa:

Do the following:

Ask the person's you choose to role play with to prepare for the scenario, above, ask them to approach you in the most authentic way in the culture they will be portraying then:

1. Help the guest to choose an ideal holiday. Ask about their budget, preferences, and expectations. Offer advice, suggest different options. Try to persuade them to try an active adventurous holiday
2. Try convincing the guest to eat some traditional food in South Africa. Find as much about the food as you can

3. The guest is getting annoyed with the food you are suggesting. Try to calm down the guest and solve any issues they have.

White individuals may prefer direct and straightforward communication. Indian individuals may employ more formal and respectful speech patterns.
