ANDREW JACKSON IGNORES:SUPREME COURT DECISON REFUSES TO RECOGNIZE CHEROKEE SOVEREIGNTY

In the case of Worcester v. Georgia in 1832, the Supreme Court ruled that the Cherokee Nation was a sovereign entity and that the state of Georgia had no jurisdiction over them. Despite this decision, President Andrew Jackson refused to recognize Cherokee sovereignty and continued to forcibly remove them from their land in what became known as the Trail of Tears. Jackson famously said, "John Marshall has made his decision; now let him enforce it." This blatant disregard for the rule of law and the rights of Native Americans is a stain on Jackson's legacy.
