One New Deal program that helped improve the lives of South Carolinians was the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). The CCC provided jobs for young men to work on environmental conservation projects, such as reforestation, soil conservation, and park development. In South Carolina, the CCC helped improve the state's forests, rivers, and parks by planting trees, building hiking trails, and restoring eroded land. This program not only provided much-needed employment during the Great Depression but also helped to preserve and protect South Carolina's natural resources for future generations.
