1.19 When selecting appropriate stories for Junior Primary children, bear the following in mind: (1)


a. Choose books that teach learners about future professions.
b. Choose books that are age-related.
c. Choose books with as few as possible illustrations lest they detract the children’s attention.
d. Choose books which depict violence as an acceptable method of asserting oneself

e. Choose books with positive messages and lessons that align with the values and beliefs of the age group.

f. Choose books that are engaging and capture the children's interest and imagination.
g. Choose books that represent diverse characters and experiences to promote empathy and understanding.
h. Choose books that encourage problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking skills.
i. Choose books that incorporate humor and fun to make reading enjoyable for the children.
j. Choose books that are easy to understand and follow, with simple language and clear illustrations to aid comprehension.
