Over the past century, Black Americans and Mexican Americans have overcome many obstacles to achieve and protect

equal rights. In 3–5 sentences, evaluate which policy, movement, or Supreme Court case you feel was the most significant
in the fight for equality. (4 points)

I believe that the Civil Rights Movement was the most significant in the fight for equality for both Black Americans and Mexican Americans. The Civil Rights Movement brought about groundbreaking legislation such as the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965, which were instrumental in dismantling segregation and discrimination. Additionally, the movement raised awareness and sparked a national conversation about the need for racial equality and justice. Without the activism and perseverance of individuals and organizations involved in the Civil Rights Movement, progress towards equality for Black and Mexican Americans would not have been achieved to the extent it has today.
