If I had lived during the Great Depression, I would have likely supported Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal policies. The Great Depression was a time of immense economic hardship for many Americans, and Roosevelt's policies were aimed at providing relief for those suffering the most. His programs, such as the Civilian Conservation Corps and the Works Progress Administration, created jobs and infrastructure projects that helped stimulate the economy and provide much-needed assistance to those in need.
Additionally, Roosevelt's policies were instrumental in regulating the financial sector and preventing future economic crises. His administration implemented reforms such as the Glass-Steagall Act, which separated commercial and investment banking, and the Securities Act of 1933, which required companies to disclose information to investors. These measures laid the foundation for a more stable and regulated financial system.
While some critics, like Huey P. Long, believed that Roosevelt's policies did not go far enough in addressing economic inequality, I believe that his efforts were a step in the right direction towards providing relief and stability during a time of crisis.
