The electric force between two objects is determined by the magnitude and sign of the charges on the objects. Objects with like charges (either both positive or both negative) will repel each other, while objects with unlike charges (one positive and one negative) will attract each other. The greater the magnitude of the charges, the stronger the electric force between the objects.
