One possible answer could be King John II of France. He was also known as John the Good and reigned from 1350 to 1364. During his reign, he was captured in the Battle of Poitiers in 1356 and held prisoner in England for several years. It is said that he was very ill and paralyzed towards the end of his life, leading many to believe he was dead.
