The light bends from one medium to another

Reflect
Refract
Absorb

Light can behave in different ways when it passes from one medium to another. When light encounters a boundary between two different mediums, such as air and water, it may reflect off the surface, refract (bend) as it enters the new medium, or be absorbed by the material.

Reflection occurs when light bounces off the surface of a material without entering it. This is why we can see our reflection in a mirror or in water.

Refraction is the bending of light as it passes through a medium with a different optical density. This is why a straw appears to bend when placed in a glass of water.

Absorption occurs when light is taken in by a material and converted into heat energy. This is why dark-colored materials get warmer in the sun, as they absorb more light.
