Why do you think the founders created the Electoral College as an election method?

Give at least one specific reason and how the Electoral College addresses that concern.

One reason the founders created the Electoral College as an election method was to balance the influence of smaller and larger states in the election process. The Electoral College achieves this by giving each state a number of electoral votes that is equal to their total number of representatives in Congress (Senators + Representatives). This means that less populated states still have some influence in the election, despite their smaller population size, by having a minimum of 3 electoral votes. This prevents larger states from dominating the election process and ensures that the voices of all states are represented in the outcome.
