Design a Map of the World that you can use in the SN & FET phase (grade 8 – 12)

Concentrate on the following:

- The map must present the all the continents of the world (make sure to spell this correctly and if you make use of abbreviations, use the correct abbreviations). Start the names of the continents with capital letters.
- Include the major countries, a scale, historical timelines, and keys on your map to represent certain features (make sure to spell this correctly and if you make use of abbreviations, use the correct abbreviations). Start the names of the months with capital letters.
- Number the continents and the countries you have included. Make sure this is in the correct font.
- Include the seasons, lines of latitude and longitudes. The name of each season or line in capital letters and you can add pictures as well to compliment the specific season.
- Have a different set of pictures to indicate the different aspects in your map for example beacons, mountains, hospitals etc.
- Your map must obviously work as a daily tool. You will use this every morning to start the day by looking at the weather, seasons etc.
- You may also indicate distinguished holidays/public holidays celebrated by certain countries etc. as well in your own creative manner.
- Think of other creative ways to use your map – for example paint a chalk board at the back that you might use so that the learners can draw something that goes with a season, timelines, scales etc.
- Make sure you highlight how the map can be used across subjects in IP
- The map MUST BE DURABLE. (You will use it in your July WIL)
- It must be attractive and give evidence to creativity.
- Make sure that the layout and the content presented is of high quality.
- Indicate 6 or more uses – in other words explain thoroughly how you will use the map in the classroom and across the subjects.
- Remember to make use of the correct font and make the words and numbers big enough for the learners to see.
- WORK HARD and BE PROUD of this resource.
- In Submission, all angles and all parts must be clearly submitted.
- YOUR OWN CREATIVITY in designing and developing this resource is important.
- Good luck and ENJOY!
