Coalitions within parties most commonly exist in multi-party systems. In these systems, multiple political parties compete for power and often form coalitions with other parties in order to gain a majority and govern effectively. One-party systems typically do not have coalitions within the party, as there is only one dominant party. Two party systems may also have coalitions, but they are less common compared to multi-party systems.
