Where is the gray matter located in the brain?

Where is the white matter?
Is the orientation of gray and white matter the same as in the spinal cord?

Gray matter in the brain is located on the outer layer of the cerebrum (cerebral cortex) and in clusters of neurons (nuclei) deep within the brain, such as the basal ganglia and thalamus.

White matter in the brain is found beneath the gray matter and consists of myelinated axons that connect different parts of the brain to each other.

The orientation of gray and white matter in the brain is not exactly the same as in the spinal cord. In the brain, gray matter is found on the outer layer while white matter is deeper within the brain. In the spinal cord, white matter is found on the outer layer while gray matter is located deeper within the spinal cord.
