PHYSICS SYLLABUS FOR JAMB

1. Measurement and Units: SI Units, Uncertainty in measurements, Errors and their types, Significant figures, Resolution of Vectors, Scalars and Vectors, Addition and Subtraction of Vectors, Resolution of Forces, Equilibrium and Principles, Newtons Laws of Motion, Linear and Angular Velocity, Speed, Acceleration, Momentum and Impulse.

2. Mechanics: Work, Energy, Power, Motion in a straight line, Projectile Motion, Newton's Laws of Motion, Motion under uniform acceleration, Pressure, Friction and Viscosity.

3. Heat and Thermodynamics: Temperature, Heat, Zeroth Law of Thermodynamics, First and Second Laws of Thermodynamics, Specific heat capacity, latent heat, Boyle's Law, Charles Law, and ideal gas laws.

4. Waves and Oscillations: Simple Harmonic Motion, waves and types, Wave speed, Reflection, Refraction, and Diffraction of Waves, Doppler Effect.

5. Electricity and Magnetism: Ohm’s Law, Kirchoff’s Laws, Electrical Circuits, Capacity, Inductance, Electromagnetic Induction, Magnetic effects of Electric Current, Electric and Magnetic fields.

6. Modern Physics: Photoelectric Effect, Atomic Structure, Radioactivity, Nuclear fission and Fusion, Semiconductor Physics, Simple d.c. and a.c. Circuits, transistors, and rectification.

7. Optics: Laws of reflection and refraction, Lenses, Mirrors, Optical Instruments, Wave-Particle Duality, Interference, and Diffraction, Polarization.

8. Special Physics: Geophysics, Electronics, Medical Physics, Space Exploration, Environmental Physics.

This syllabus is designed to cover all the key topics in Physics that are likely to be tested in the JAMB examination. Candidates are advised to thoroughly study and understand each topic to increase their chances of success in the examination.
