What caused Andrew Jackson to offer 5 million dollars to the Cherokee people

Andrew Jackson offered 5 million dollars to the Cherokee people as part of the Indian Removal Act of 1830, which authorized the forced removal of Native American tribes from their ancestral lands in the southeastern United States to west of the Mississippi River. Jackson believed that the removal of Native American tribes was necessary for westward expansion and to make room for white settlers. The offer of 5 million dollars was meant to incentivize the Cherokee people to voluntarily leave their lands and relocate to present-day Oklahoma.
