HEENT:

- Erythema and edema of the meninges may be present causing intense headache and neck stiffness
- Nuchal rigidity may be observed due to irritation of the meninges
- Photophobia and phonophobia are common symptoms due to irritation of the cranial nerves
- Petechial rash may be present in cases of meningococcal meningitis

Respiratory:
- Tachypnea and dyspnea may be present due to the inflammatory response of the body
- In severe cases, respiratory distress and cyanosis may be seen

CVS:
- Tachycardia and hypotension may be present due to septic shock in bacterial meningitis
- Signs of dehydration may be present due to vomiting and decreased intake

CNS:
- Altered mental status ranging from confusion to coma may be present
- Focal neurological deficits may be seen in severe cases
- Seizures may be present in some cases

Musculoskeletal:
- Muscle stiffness and tenderness may be present due to meningeal irritation
- Arthralgia and myalgia may be present as systemic symptoms
