2.1. Look around your neighbourhood/community and identify a social need you can

address through social entrepreneurship. Provide two (2) reasons why this is
considered a social need in your community.
[1 + (2 + 2) = 5]
2.2. Now that you identified this social need in your neighbourhood/community, develop
a social entrepreneurship project you propose to use to address this need (You
cannot use any ideas already shared with you in class slides or videos).
Refer to the following when answering:
2.2.1. Indicate the type of project (e.g., making money transfer easy like Mama Money.
NB cannot use something similar to Mama Money).
(2)
2.2.2. Thoroughly explain what the project entails (e.g. What will be done to address the
need and how).
(4)
2.2.3. Thoroughly explain where the project will be located and why this location is
suitable.
(3)
2.2.4. Identify and explain at least three (3) benefits that the community will receive from
this project.

2.1. In my neighbourhood, there is a lack of accessible and affordable mental health support services for residents. This is considered a social need in my community for two main reasons:

1. Lack of awareness and stigma surrounding mental health: Many people in my neighbourhood either do not have access to proper mental health education or feel ashamed or embarrassed to seek help for their mental health issues due to the stigma attached to it. This results in a lack of support for those struggling with mental health issues.

2. Financial barriers: For those who do want to seek help for their mental health issues, the cost of therapy sessions and medication can be prohibitively expensive. This financial barrier prevents many individuals from accessing the necessary support they need to improve their mental well-being.

2.2. Social entrepreneurship project proposal:

2.2.1. Type of project: Mental health support and education platform

2.2.2. The project entails creating a mobile app that provides free mental health resources, online therapy sessions with trained professionals, and a community forum for individuals to connect and support each other. This platform will also offer affordable virtual workshops and courses on topics such as stress management, self-care, and coping mechanisms for different mental health conditions.

2.2.3. The project will be located online, accessible to anyone with an internet connection. This location is suitable as it breaks down geographical barriers and ensures that individuals in my neighbourhood and beyond can access mental health support regardless of their physical location.

2.2.4. Benefits to the community:

- Increased access to mental health support: The project will provide a much-needed resource for individuals in my neighbourhood who are struggling with mental health issues but cannot afford traditional therapy sessions.
- Destigmatization of mental health: By creating a supportive online community and offering educational resources, the project will help reduce the stigma surrounding mental health in my neighbourhood.
- Improved mental well-being: With easy access to online therapy sessions and educational materials, community members can work on improving their mental well-being and coping skills, leading to overall better mental health outcomes.
