WHY ISOTONIC SALINE IS GIVEN FOR AKI PATIENTS? why it is not given in fluid overloaded and cardiac patients

Isotonic saline is given to patients with acute kidney injury (AKI) because it helps to maintain the balance of electrolytes and fluids in the body. It can help to prevent dehydration and restore normal kidney function.

However, isotonic saline is not typically given to patients who are fluid overloaded or have cardiac issues because it can exacerbate these conditions by increasing fluid volume in the body. In these cases, physicians may opt for other fluid management strategies such as diuretics or reduced fluid intake. Additionally, isotonic saline can worsen conditions such as congestive heart failure by increasing the workload on the heart.
