Leukopenia

Leukopenia is a condition characterized by a low white blood cell count in the blood. White blood cells are an important part of the immune system and help the body fight off infections and diseases. When the white blood cell count is low, the body may have a harder time fighting off infections, making individuals with leukopenia more susceptible to illnesses.

There are various causes of leukopenia, including certain medications, autoimmune disorders, bone marrow disorders, infections, and nutritional deficiencies. Symptoms of leukopenia may include frequent infections, fatigue, weakness, and unexplained bruises or bleeding.

Treatment for leukopenia depends on the underlying cause and may include medications, dietary changes, and addressing any underlying health conditions. It is important for individuals with leukopenia to consult with a healthcare provider for proper diagnosis and treatment.
