Question 1

Pick two areas that you would like to focus on to show the differences between the social classes during the Industrial Revolution. The areas can be: housing, clothing, food, jobs, leisure activities, etc. Then, apply technology and research images that represent the differences for each class. You will need a total of six images (2 for each social class). Along with the images, you will write brief descriptions of each including the approximate time period, region of the world, and any other facts you find interesting about the images. If you are unable to provide a copy of each image, you may provide links for each image.

1) Housing:

Working Class: Image 1 shows a crowded and cramped tenement building in London during the early 1800s. These buildings were often poorly constructed and lacked proper sanitation facilities.

Middle Class: Image 2 depicts a spacious and well-maintained Victorian townhouse in England during the mid-1800s. The middle class during this time period had access to larger, more comfortable homes compared to the working class.

2) Jobs:

Working Class: Image 3 shows a group of factory workers in Manchester during the Industrial Revolution. The working class often labored in dangerous and unhealthy conditions for long hours with low pay.

Middle Class: Image 4 portrays a group of businessmen in a bustling city office during the mid-1800s. The middle class had more opportunities for white-collar jobs in professions such as law, medicine, and finance.
