Cardiac muscles

Cardiac muscles are a type of muscle tissue found in the heart. These muscles are responsible for the rhythmic contraction and relaxation of the heart, allowing it to pump blood throughout the body. Unlike skeletal muscles, cardiac muscles are involuntary and contract without conscious control. They are also highly resistant to fatigue and are able to sustain continuous contraction for long periods of time. Cardiac muscles are composed of individual cells called cardiomyocytes, which are interconnected by intercalated discs that allow for rapid communication and coordination of contraction. The unique structure and function of cardiac muscles make them essential for maintaining heart function and overall cardiovascular health.
