Dear Miss Goble,

I am reaching out to seek guidance for my narrative portfolio. I have not yet started on it as I have been unsure of how to begin or what it should be about. While I have read the instructions, I am struggling to come up with a solid concept. My main questions are whether I can choose the names of the characters and if I can base it on events before or after the story of "Holes." I am considering writing about two friends who find themselves in a challenging situation and must work together to overcome it. Specifically, I thought about exploring what happens to the two boys from "Holes" after they return from Camp Green Lake and meet a new girl at school. They all end up trapped somewhere and must rely on each other to find a way out. I believe this storyline has potential, but I wanted to confirm if my approach is correct or if I should consider a different direction. I hope this explanation clarifies my intentions, and I would greatly appreciate your advice on how to proceed.

Sincerely, [Your Name]
