what's appeasement? Did it work
Appeasement is a diplomatic strategy in which a country tries to avoid conflict by making concessions to an aggressive or potentially hostile nation. The term is most commonly associated with British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain's policy of appeasing Adolf Hitler in the lead-up to World War II.
Many historians argue that appeasement did not work in the case of Hitler and Nazi Germany. Giving in to his demands only emboldened Hitler and allowed him to expand his influence and military power. The policy ultimately failed to prevent World War II and many believe that a firmer stance against Hitler earlier on could have potentially prevented the conflict.
